The construction of East Levee Pump station started in January 1978 with a contract price of $1,354,505.00 to Allis Chamblers for the equipment and it took 730 calendar days to complete.
The contract for construction of the station went to Belco Construction Company for $4,652,000.00 in June of 1980. East Levee Pump Station Phase I is capable of pumping 720,000 gallons per minute.
Construction of Phase II started In August 2005 with a contract bid price of $10,225,000.00 which was awarded to CSA Construction and completed in 2009. The bid for the equipment was awarded to Patterson Pump Company for a price $2.2 million dollars for two new pumps.
The pumping capacity of Phase II is 520,000 gallons per minute. Bringing the total pumping capacity to 1,240,000 gallons per minute when running Phase I and Phase II.
